Watch My Garden Growing

My gardening attempts in a new environment.

Updates and pictures coming!!!

So, this week we repotted the tomatoes and pepper plants. The pepper plant seems to be lunch for something. I did see a red spider-like insect on it tonight as I was watering. It is trying to form peppers but I nipped them off. I really want the plant to develop before it tries fruiting.
I will take pictures and maybe someone can give me a clue. I did fertilize a bit tonight and I watered thoroughly. By tonight I mean at 6PM so we had plenty of time for the plant to dry out before the sun went down here.

Tomatoes look great. I have been clipping back the buds as well. No flowering allowed yet. Too soon!!

Nasturtium blossom. One. LOL! AND they are all a bit flimsy. Not sure what is going on in this bed but I think hubby added too much peat. He does not understand that too much peat is not good for certain plants. I need to go get some more compost and manure to help it out I think. Lettuce is still trying to come up. Some radishes are looking better but something has been eating them. Beets too!

Never had this bad of a problem growing before. I am a little stumped.

Disappointed in My Peas

My poor peas are dying. Not sure what happened but I will be replanting. It may have warmed up too much for them but I am repotting some plants tomorrow so I will reseed the peas, lettuce, beets, carrots, radishes and potatoes.
Up north (Maine) and in SW Virginia we did not even put potatoes in the ground until after Mothers’ Day. Nothing went in the ground until after Memorial Day. I suppose the nicer, more temperate weather here in Williamsburg lulled me into thinking we could get a jump on planting. Oh well, live and learn. I cannot wait to get some other goodies in the ground. The little bit of lettuce and spinach is finally attempting to grow. The warmer soil has probably helped. Might even replant the bulbs to see what I get next year!

Container Gardening

In TN we lived in an apartment, so we container gardened. I even used a Topsy-Turvy to grow a tomato. It was good for what it was and we had a nice patio that got good sun.

Since we do not get good sun where we want to grow the veggies we decided to pot the tomatoes and the peppers. It is warm today but what sun I had is now gone. Three days of rain. I am putting them on the deck, which appears to get a few hours of direct sun and a lot of filtered sunlight. Hopefully, the bugs and the neighbors dog will leave them alone!

Pictures forthcoming!!
